Mountain of Flame
🔥 Module Overview
Mountain of Flame released on July 16, 2024 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Neverwinter's 29th module unvaulted and rebuilt Mount Hotenow as a level-20 campaign zone, added six Heroic Encounters and Fire Giant Lockdowns, and returned the Lair of the Mad Dragon as a fully reworked dungeon.
Fire giant Gommoth intends to use magma superheated by an ancient Magma Golem to awaken the primordial Maegera. Adventurers join the Hillborn dwarven expedition, push back Gommoth's forces and confront the Ashmadai threat beneath the mountain.

🌋 Return to Mount Hotenow
The Rebuilt Zone
The former leveling zone was unvaulted with major visual and layout changes, expanded spaces, new missions and a fresh campaign. Familiar volcanic landmarks return, but routes and activities should be treated as new content.

The Threat
Gommoth's forces seek control of the ancient Magma Golem. The construct can superheat magma, giving the fire giant a path toward freeing Maegera and turning the mountain into a much larger disaster.
Your campaign route follows the expedition's attempt to understand the danger, secure the slopes and stop the ritual.
📜 Campaign Progression
At level 20, open the Campaign Journal and begin the Mount Hotenow introduction. Outside the original open-access period, the Journal lists 75,000 Total Item Level. Sergeant Knox offers the opening quest, Mount Hotenow Rumblings.

⚔️ Fire Giant Lockdowns & Zone Farming
Fire Giant Lockdowns are Mount Hotenow's escalating group events. As players defeat enough of Gommoth's forces, stronger lieutenants and fire giant commanders enter the fight. Lockdowns and the zone's six Heroic Encounters form the repeatable farming core of Module 29.

Heroic Encounters
Use Heroic Encounters for campaign tasks, repeatable zone rewards and Battle Pass history. Major encounters generally reward group participation more reliably than solo wandering.
Efficient Farming
Choose a target reward first, then confirm whether it comes from campaign progression, a zone event, a vendor or the dungeon. This prevents mixing incompatible farms.

Do not replace a working piece only because the new one has more Item Level. Compare equip powers, percentage stats, role needs and uptime.

The Dungeon Returns
The original Lair of the Mad Dragon was unvaulted and rebuilt with updated environments, enemies, boss mechanics and rewards.

Artifact activation was standardized for nearly all artifacts, generally moving to a one-second activation time and improving consistency.
