📜 Storm King's Thunder Campaign

Start in the Campaign Journal and follow the giant threat through the northern zones in story order. The Sea of Moving Ice continues the same campaign, so a missing sea route usually indicates unfinished earlier progress.

🗺️ Northern Adventure Zones

The land campaign moves across three distinct northern zones before the Sea of Moving Ice. Complete gold quests and unlock travel in each area before building a weekly route.

ZoneIdentityTravel Tip
Bryn ShanderBesieged Ten-Towns stronghold and campaign entry point.Use the city and nearby passes as the first route anchor.
LonelywoodForest settlement and surrounding wilderness under giant pressure.Follow roads around terrain rather than crossing blocked slopes.
Cold RunHarsh mountain zone with deeper giant operations.Check elevation and cave entrances when markers overlap.
Sea of Moving IceIsland network traveled by khyek.Learn landing points and approach islands from navigable water.
Fangbreaker / SvardborgQueued group-content destinations.Use the queue panel, not the open-zone map, for entry.

Unlock in Order

A later zone may remain closed until both story and campaign requirements are met.

Everfrost History

Older guides emphasize Everfrost Resistance and empowerment systems whose modern relevance must be checked live.

Weather & Visibility

Snow and ice can obscure paths; use known landmarks and maintained maps.

🚣 Sea of Moving Ice, Fishing & Treasure

The Sea of Moving Ice changes the campaign from overland travel to island exploration. Players use a khyek, fish in marked waters and recover maps or bottles that point toward frozen treasure sites.

ActivityHow It WorksEfficiency Tip
Khyek TravelPilot the small craft between islands and landing points.Approach from open water and learn safe docks.
FishingUse the current fishing interaction and bait rules in eligible water.Fish only when the task or target reward requires it.
Bottles / MapsRecovered clues point to treasure locations across the islands.Match the image and landmark before digging.
Island QuestsComplete story and repeatable objectives on separate landmasses.Stack objectives by island to reduce travel time.
Public EncountersJoin eligible fights and zone events.Check instance activity before crossing the sea.
Artifact Weapon HistorySea content supported campaign-era weapon progression.Compare modern value before beginning a legacy restoration path.

Control Practice

Khyek movement feels different from normal travel. Learn turning and stopping before following a tight route.

Map Landmarks

Treasure images make more sense when shoreline shape, structures and mountains are considered together.

Inventory Space

Fishing and treasure routes can generate many items; clear space before a long circuit.

⚔️ Fangbreaker Island & Svardborg

Storm King's Thunder includes the five-player Fangbreaker Island dungeon, while Sea of Moving Ice adds the ten-player Assault on Svardborg trial. Both were once tied closely to Everfrost preparation and should now be approached through the live queue.

ActivityGroupEncounter IdentityModern Check
Fangbreaker IslandFive playersFrozen assault with environmental hazards and giant-scale bosses.Current queue gate, tier and mechanics.
Assault on SvardborgTen playersBattle against Jarl Storvald with coordinated survival and objective phases.Current version, queue availability and reward chest.
Master Svardborg HistoryTen playersHigher-difficulty original trial path and weapon-upgrade context.Do not assume an old key, resistance or empowerment requirement still applies.

Environmental Damage

Cold and arena hazards can be as dangerous as direct attacks. Preserve safe positioning.

Target Priority

Adds and objectives may determine whether the boss phase is survivable.

Group Calls

Svardborg rewards clear movement and target calls; scattered players make recovery harder.

Old Everfrost Resistance and empowerment requirements are historical unless the live game explicitly displays them.

🛡️ Campaign & Legacy Rewards

Northern campaign rewards span milestones, zone activities, fishing and treasure, group content and artifact-weapon history. Current value varies widely because these systems predate several gear overhauls.

SourceReward FocusVerify
Campaign TrackBoons, milestones and permanent access.Current costs and character completion.
Zone ActivitiesCampaign currencies and public rewards.Eligible quest, Heroic and weekly cap.
Fishing / TreasureSea-specific resources and map rewards.Current map, item source and binding.
Fangbreaker IslandDungeon rewards and achievements.Boss/chest source and current queue.
SvardborgTrial rewards and artifact-weapon history.Active version, chest pool and upgrade relevance.
Campaign StoreProgress-gated legacy items.Availability, price and intended use.

Weapon History

Restored or empowered artifact weapons may matter for collection and appearance even when no longer competitive.

Unique Old Effects

Compare a legacy item's exact effect with the modern build before discarding or upgrading it.

Time Cost

Fishing and treasure routes are worthwhile only when they feed a specific current goal.

👑 Giants, the Ordning & Jarl Storvald

The campaign follows the disruption of giant society and Jarl Storvald's effort to use the Ring of Winter. The northern zones reveal the threat gradually before the conflict crosses the frozen sea.

Bryn Shander Under Siege

The return of giants is first experienced as a direct threat to Ten-Towns and the Sword Coast.

The Giant Campaign

Each zone exposes more of the giant forces, their leaders and the broken order driving them.

Jarl Storvald

The frost giant leader becomes the central threat of the Sea of Moving Ice story.

Ring of Winter

Storvald's pursuit of this power gives the campaign its larger stakes.

Frozen Sea

Island travel shifts the investigation toward the frost giants' stronghold.

Svardborg

The trial resolves the campaign's confrontation with Storvald.

🕰️ Historical Systems to Recheck

Storm King's Thunder guides often contain accurate maps beside obsolete progression requirements. Separate the two before following an old route.

Historical TopicWhy It AppearsWhat to Do Now
Everfrost ResistanceLaunch gear and encounters used the stat heavily.Follow current queue and tooltip requirements.
Voninblod / EmpowermentCampaign equipment once required ongoing empowerment.Check whether the item and mechanic still exist in the same form.
Old Reputation GatesZones and queues originally unlocked through lengthy progression.Use the live Journal for today's access path.
Keys and ChestsDungeon and trial rewards used contemporary key structures.Read the current end-chest prompt before spending.
Artifact Weapon RestorationSea of Moving Ice supported a major weapon path.Compare modern alternatives before investing.
Map locations may remain useful long after the numeric build and progression advice around them expires.
